I've been on a quest for the perfect cami to wear under sheer sweaters and blouses for a while. I like Aritzia's bustier tanks, but I find they can be a little awkward unless you're wearing the right bra. And it's certainly not for the big breasted among us.

I popped into Forever 21 on a whim last week and as I paid for my purchases the girl ringing me through suggested I might like to try one of their Favourite V-Neck Camis. I'm not usually a sucker for till-side purchases, but for $1.80 I figured I might as well give it a shot. I grabbed a small in white and was on my way.

I tried the cami on the next day and was pretty darn excited to see that I had hit the jackpot! Thin spaghetti straps and a subtle v-neck will keep this cami hidden below blouses while a generous length means it's perfect for tucking in or in my case, tucking over the baby bump. A-thank you Forever 21, I'll be getting one in every colour. 

What Are You Wearing New Years Eve?

Forget "What are you doing New Years Eve" (though Ella's version is delightful), I'd rather talk about what you're wearing. New Years is one night of the year that requires a little sparkle and I think you can really push the envelope.

My absolute favourite dress up item this holiday is Alexandra Grecco's Karinska Tulle Skirt. This is the skirt my dreams are made of. It's ethereal, feminine and girly but I think you could also get away with wearing it with chambray, a leather bomber or a plaid shirt (like one of my fav bloggers). It sits above the belly button, so how about a cropped bandeau? For New Years I'd go with a simple black tank, a statement necklace and sparkly shoes. It's sold out now, I wonder if I could make my own version?

Sequins are always perfect for New Years and I love this colourblock sequin dress from Madewell. It's on sale too!

Nothing says 'holiday' like velvet and this trapeze dress from Aritzia would look gorgeous belted with sky-high booties.

You know what else is festive? Feathers. This tie-dyed skirt at Zara is really pretty and really reasonable too.

So, what are YOU wearing New Year's Eve?

Autumn Rain

Autumn has most definitely here in Vancouver and I am cold. We had a few lovely days of sun this week which allowed Eloise and I to play at the park and gave me a chance to wear a prized pair of Alexander McQueen over-the-knee brogue boots, but the rain is back in full force. The days are darker earlier, the mornings chilly and it's mildly depressing to think that we have another five plus months of rain to look forward to. Blech.

Since rainy weather is inevitable in Vancouver there is nothing I can do but embrace it. Eloise is happier when she has an opportunity to get outside at least once a day so I need to put away my distaste for getting wet and cold and deal with it for her sake. She has a Muddy Buddy to protect her from the elements but I am in need of a knee-length waterproof coat with a hood that allows me to stay dry too. Paired with my rainboots I think I should be good to brave the elements.

Lululemon's Right As Rain jacket is a staple for many Vancouver-ettes, but I'm just not a fan. I do like their 3x a Lady Jacket, but not the nearly $400 price tag. I am digging Aritzia's TNA Britannia Parka and actually found a good looking rain jacket at MEC of all places. It's called the Bon Vivant as if to trick me into going outside.

Go Bold

When it comes to clothing, I'm not nearly as bold as I used to be. In high school my mom referred to my daily clothing choices as 'costumes' (looking back, they totally were) and I studied fashion in university, so dressing for lectures was practically a course credit. I used to wear lots of colour too - pink, turquoise and red - but my grown up self favours grey, black and white. How boring.

This spring, colour is back in a big way. Coloured denim, colour blocking and neon, I am finding myself once again attracted to a bright spectrum and ready to inject my wardrobe with colour. It all started with a pair of cornflower blue jeggings from my BFF Alex in Australia and last week I picked up some really fun tops at Old Navy (I'm always surprised what I can find in there for a song). J. Crew's entire Spring collection is amazing and there are some great pieces at local favourite Aritzia too.
