On Target

Target is a high priority on our cross border shopping trips for many reasons: they have the best cheap and cheerful home accessories, my favourite brightly patterned $1.50 ankle socks, an excellent baby selection and you can pick up a bottle of Champers on your way out. Since Target came to Canada a few months ago I thought it was finally time to take the trek out to the nearest store in Coquitlam to see how our (sadly) booze-free Tar-jay compared.

It looked the same - bright white with red, bulls eyes and big plastic carts - but wasn't quite.
The selection seemed to be a little lacking even still I spotted a fabulous pink confetti patterned sheet set, fun knotted yarn throw pillows in turquoise and a collection of colourful accent tables. For kids there was a small but ample selection of clothing and accessories and we made it out with grey and rainbow neon geometric leggings for $4 and a pink bow headband. There were some super cute flat sandals with a band of glitter across the toes for me but they didn't quite cut it for my huge feet. Boo.

I love that Target can be a discount big box store and have style cred at the same time. It's a great place to shop for stylish items on the cheap and now I know that I can stock up on stationery and baby things without driving to the States. Have you seen the super fun Target Canada commercial, "Can't Wait to Meet You Neighbour"? I appreciate that they spell neighbour our way.

  1. I've been to three of the four Calgary Targets and they're really hit and miss. I don't know what the Vancouver options are like, but here, the ones in the far-away 'burbs are far better (i.e. not so picked over) than the ones attached to shopping malls.

PS - I love love LOVE your blog. You're doing a great job!
