Here she is, decked out for Halloween |
Today is both happy and sad as we say good bye to an old friend and hello to a new one.
For 20 years my family home has been a lovely little house in Dunderave. It's been host to birthdays and parties, welcomed traveling friends, witnessed tantrums and arguments (who? me?), hugs, kisses and most of all, a whole lotta love. My favourite memories are fairly recent ones as the house was the centre of celebrations surrounding our wedding and is where Eloise spent several of the first weeks of her life, showered with affection from Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle T.
The house sits on Kings Avenue, a block that was loaded with kids when we were young. We never tired of playing outside and spent our foremost years growing up together. Today, many years later, my family is the last of the 'original crew' to move off the block and onto something new. The last walk-through of the house on Kings will be an emotional one but it is also the beginning to a new and very exciting chapter in our lives.
So in the wise words Dr. Seuss... "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."
